Cast an Egi to sink in the
waters (The sink depth depends on the water depth. ).
When the Egi has sunk, lift your rod up & down vigorously
in a jigging motion (Syakuri) to move the Egi upward.
Then tighten the line by reeling in as the line becomes
slack by the Syakuri. Sink the Egi again and lift it
up quickly. Repeat these actions until the Egi comes
underfoot. When squid strikes, slowly reel in not to
let the line slack and get the squid. |

Type of the Shyakuri
|
|
 |
Lift up & down the rod once in
a big motion. Then the Egi jumps up vigorously
to attract squid.
Note that if the line is slack by wind, the Egi
moves only a little even by the Syakuri. |
|
 |
3 times Syakuri
|
|
 |
| One time Syakuri will give the
Egi a rectilinear movement only. Do the Syakuri
twitchily three times in a row, and the Egi darts
from side to side. In this manner, the Egi moves
straight and sideways to draw more attention
from squid. |

 |
Twitch & Dart
|
|
 |
| Place the rod in the downward position
and move it as if slapping, and the Egi repeats
the twitch & dart actions from side to side.
This technique is effective for the shallow waters
that do not allow the Egi to sink or when you target
active squid. |
